About The Furniture

|
All furniture is constructed from solid wood. Exterior case pieces are made from ¾ inch lumber with drawer sides and bottoms made of ½ inch wood. Pieces are fit together to allow for natural wood movement with the changing seasons, varying climates, and fluctuations in humidity levels.
Preferred species of lumber include cherry, walnut, and oaks (red and white). All are commonly found in this area and the finest available are chosen. Quarter-sawn oak is generally available in this area and makes beautiful furniture. Great care is taken to match the grain patterns of the wood across joints. Where possible, singe boards are used for door panels and drawer fronts. Traditional joinery techniques such as dovetailed, mortise and tenon, and “biscuit” joinery are used.
Since furniture pieces are often placed in the middle of a room, great care is also given to the back of the piece desired. Raised panels are used for the backs and the same attention is given as to the fronts and sides. |
